The updated Nikon codec can be found here. Why don't you use the Viewnx prog that comes with the Nikon camera ? Mind you I have Vista on my Laptop, but not 100% sure if I remember if I could see them or not on there. Not sure why you can't see them in Vista other then they haven't bothered to update it yet. I allways shoot on RAW for further edition if needed, to convert (to send the pics to friends&family) I use actions at Photoshop or Picasa (three clicks and the entire folder converted) Which is located at the following addressĪnd the Windows Version should he need it.Īw ollieography say you need Camera Raw to open NEF on windows vista even with the codec you can't see NEF files, but on XP works fine And since he seems to be using OSX, he will need the OSX version. Im new to Photoshop if you haven't noticed. Someone told me that some effects in Photoshop can't be used if you arent using RAW. I'll also try the options you mention just in case I shot in raw again.

It also offers basic adjustments, including +-2EV, white balance, picture control, color booster, and something else that escapes me at the moment.ĭo a google on CS3 RAW converter. Nikon's free View NX does NEF to JPG conversion. Even Windows Photo Gallery opens NEF with the Nikon codec. And I dont know if Iphoto can convert this formats. I need guidance to convert this files, I dont know if I need any special software or something. I tried to open de NEF files with Photoshop CS3 but it doesnt work.
